Kraemer Design + Production assisted the Belle Isle Nature Center’s renovation to the interior of the building by increasing environmental awareness with designing immersive displays and animal habitats. These experiences and habitats provide unique educational, environmental, and natural experiences that help connect people with wildlife and urban nature that is culturally relevant to the Detroit community. Some pieces of the Nature Center’s immersive experience include acting as an ant and climbing inside an “anthill,” seeing how mudpuppies are an important part of the Detroit River ecosystem, learning about the many types of pollinators, and discovering how snakes and salamanders often live in the same green spaces that humans enjoy for recreation, like parks and areas near water and trees.
