Brooklyn Children's Museum
Neighborhood Nature
Brooklyn, NY

Founded in 1899, the Brooklyn Children's Museum was the first museum created expressly for children. KD+P was honored to work with this esteemed institution to design the Neighborhood Nature exhibit as part of a complete museum renovation. This 5500 square foot space explores the surprisingly varied habitats found in Brooklyn, from freshwater ponds and urban woodlands to community gardens and saltwater beaches. Live plants and animals, as well as relevant specimens from the museum's extensive collections, are combined with contextual vignettes and interactive exhibits to connect visitors to their own natural neighborhood.
